The nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2026 have been revealed.
Contenders for the honour include Iron Maiden (pictured), Phil Collins, Shakira, Oasis, Wu-Tang Clan, Mariah Carey, Jeff Buckley, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Joy Division/New Order, Billy Idol, P!nk, Luthor Vandross, Sade, INXS, Melissa Etheridge, The Black Crowes, and New Edition.
This year, 10 of the nominees are on the ballot for the first time: Shakira, Wu-Tang Clan, Buckley, Hill, P!nk, Vandross, INXS, Etheridge, New Edition, and Collins, though the latter was already inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as a member of Genesis.
Artists become eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first recording.
The Class of 2026 will be selected through votes from over 1,000 music historians, industry professionals and inducted artists, along with a public fan vote, which is currently open on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's website. The official induction ceremony will take place in the fall.
Last year's class included Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Outkast, Soundgarden and The White Stripes.
