Last Updated: 08 Aug 2022 11:42am
Ash are an alternative rock band from Downpatrick, Northern Ireland.

Formed in 1992, the band released their debut mini-album, ‘Trailer’, in 1994, but it was their second LP, 1996's ‘1977’, which saw them gain greater commercial success.

They have since put out a further six studio albums to date, with the most recent being 2018's 'Islands'.

Ash will celebrate the 21st anniversary of ‘Free All Angels’ by playing it in full with former member Charlotte Hatherley at three UK shows in September 2022. They will then wrap up the year with a show at Belfast's Ulster Hall in December. Catch them live by checking tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.

Music often plays a pivotal role in our formative experiences. Just one listen to certain songs can instantly stir up a whirlwind of memories and emotions, transporting us back to a time when anything and everything seemed possible. For former Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley, that perfectly sums up the making and subsequent success of the band’s chart-topping masterpiece ‘Free All Angels'.

The clear standout on Ash’s potentially disastrous second album ‘Nu-Clear Sounds’, Wildsurf is a title that perfectly encapsulates the band’s 25 year sojourn through the highs and lows of the music business. Since crashing the mid-'90s Britpop scene as fresh-faced teenagers who sounded like, to paraphrase Bono, ‘Brian Wilson in a punk band,’ the Northern Irish trio have been on a non-stop sinusoidal thrill ride.
