If a mad scientist took a bad hair day, stuck the 80s up its arse and grafted the results onto a shop mannequin, that scientist would probably not get a lot of funding and then get sectioned. In unrelated news, La Roux, the fantastic electropop duo of Eleanor Jackson and Ben Langmaid are on tour. Click here for La Roux tickets.

REVIEW: Wolfmother Rock The London Coronet, But Band Of Skulls Lead Pack
Music Reviews

wolfmother

Wolfmother entertained an expectant pack of music fans last week, hungry for rock and salivating for roll. Up for the first course were Band Of Skulls. And the Southampton trio, served up five Michelin Stars. Their sound was brash, overwhelming and bounced off the walls of the London Coronet, wrapping the audience in a bubbling cocoon of sound. If none of the audience knew them before, they most definitely made sure they did after. The musical coupling of the Kills-esque male/female singer provided an excellent balance of vocals, bathed in both thumping basslines and crashing riffs. After half an hour of pure sex and Americana, the pulsing audience were well and truly warmed up.

The rock and blues performer claims the songwriter in him was born the day he went to hospital due to cardiac arrhythmia. It makes you wonder. For instance, if you shot him in the leg, would he come out of casualty a postman? Does it work that way for everyone? Could I go in with a broken toe and find that was the day the day the carpet salesman in me was born? Nah, it’s probably just him. He’s on tour. Click here for John Mayer tickets.

Grammy nominated artist Imogen Heap is on tour. One of these days, I’ll write about someone who hasn’t been nominated for something. I’ll call that day A-Day. I’m not saying Imogen Heap doesn’t deserve it, far from it, she did fun things in Frou Frou and as a solo artist, she’s talented, interesting and nice to listen to... I’ll shut up about it. If you’re called Steel Panther, your name should always be capitalized. ‘STEEL PANTHER’ Do you see? It’s just somehow right. STEEL PANTHER. It’s even more fun to type when it’s in capitals. STEEL PANTHER. Rarrgh! I’m tempted to put it in bold too, but that might be too much STEEL PANTHER for my monitor to handle. Anyway, they’re on tour. Who are? STEEL PANTHER are, that’s who. Woof. Lady Gaga Tour Dates & Tickets

Everyone’s favourite furniture-chewing pop harlot is back. She may appear to be trying to live up to her name and wields fashion like an offensive weapon but she gives good pop in many folk’s opinion; that’s what matters, and not that she appears to be an alumni of the Jordan school of publicity humping. The Lady is on tour. Click here for Lady Gaga tickets.

You probably know them as the singers of the Sopranos theme tune, but they’re also a band known for their fusion of styles, ironic lyrics and mad stage-shows. Here’s a quote from their website “We're the Alabama 3. We make Sweet Pretty Muthaf*ckin Country Acid House Music. All night long. We're not from Alabama, and there's not three of us. We're from Brixton...” Click here for tickets.

Stereophonics Add London and Glasgow Dates To 2010 Tour

The Phonics have expanded their 2010 tour like a fat bloke happily releasing his few belt notches after a big, satisfying meal… actually, it’s nothing like that, because the bloke would have to somehow add London and Glasgow to his belt due to popular demand… unless he’s named the belt holes because so many people asked him to, but that’s getting a bit silly. Right, I’d like to be clear that the Stereophonics extra dates are nothing like a fat bloke in any way. Glad we got that cleared up. Click here for tickets.

Voluntary Butler Scheme

Voluntary Butler Scheme is the precious creation of one man, Rob Jones. The Birmingham based solo band-man uses his home studio to create most of this music, making debut album At Breakfast, Dinner, Tea armed with an arsenal of instruments – including a kazoo and a ukulele; a man after any music lover’s heart, I think you’d agree.
