Ozzy Osbourne And Tony Iommi Settle Court Battle

Heavy metal legends Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi (both pictured centre) have called an end to their legal battle over the rights to owning the Black Sabbath name.

With down-tuned guitars, howling vocals, lyrics about satan and all things evil, Black Sabbath screamed out of Birmingham in the late 1960’s inventing heavy metal and laying a path that countless bands would follow.

Blighted by in-band fighting, iconic frontman Ozzy Osbourne was given the sack from Black Sabbath in 1978. Ronnie Dio was plucked from his former band Rainbow to helm Sabbath into a new era, taking the group forward in another direction which was warmly received by fans.

Recently fighting in court over the rights of the ownership of Black Sabbath’s name, members Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi have now announced an end to their legal feud.

A statement was released clarifying the end of the court battle. “Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi of the legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath have amicably resolved their problems over the ownership of the Black Sabbath name and court proceedings in New York have been discontinued.”

Stating that the relationship between Osbourne and Iommi is still friendly, the statement continued. “Both parties are glad to put this behind them and to cooperate together for the future and would like it to be known that the issue was never personal, it was always business.”

This now leads us to wonder whether there could be a Black Sabbath reunion. Take That can get stuffed, this is what the people want, the reunion of century perhaps? The news that the pair’s titanic legal battle has ended certainly fuels the possibility for a reunion show. Watch this space!
