Tuesday, 23 April 2024 Written by Laura Johnson

Bloodstock festival have announced the first bands for the Hopical Storm New Blood Stage line-up.

Disposable, Final Coil, She Burns Red, Biomechanimal, Praetorian, Lost To Light, Straight For The Sun, Akkadian and Sathamel are the first batch of acts confirmed for the rising band stage, outside of the Metal 2 The Masses competition.

With the Metal 2 The Masses tour returning to grassroots venues beginning on May 10, the 2023 winners of the initiative, Acid Age, have also been announced for the line-up, with the Northern Ireland thrashers set to open Thursday's Sophie Lancaster Stage. They said:

"We love everything about M2TM. The exposure, photography, stage, lights and friends we made was more than satisfactory, but then we won and got to both attend and play Bloodstock 2023! We couldn't believe it, Bloodstock is heavy metal Mecca. It's where everyone comes together with a common goal, HEAVY FUCKING METAL! The sense of community at the festival is undeniable. Now that we have a chance to return and play the Sophie stage, we aim to show everyone why we are the best War-Jazz band in the world and we will do it for Sophie. See you in August."

They join recent additions Soen, Raised By Owls, Ignea, Deitus, Darkest Era, Burner, Haliphron, Deathcollector, Wolf, Haxan, Combichrist, Unpeople, Cauldron, Asomvel, Enemies Everywhere, Xentrix, Ryujin, Osiah, Awake By Design, Evergrey, Igorrr, Korpiklaani, and Satyricon.

The event will return to Catton Park, Derbyshire this August, with Opeth topping the bill on Friday with a 2024 UK exclusive fan-chosen set, while Architects headline on Saturday with another 2024 UK exclusive show. Amon Amarth will close the party on Sunday, again as a UK exclusive.
