From New York City, the eleven classically trained musicians, making up Emanuel And The Fear, led by Emanuel Ayvas, self-released their first EP early last year and spent the rest of 2009 in Brooklyn’s Ishlab Music Studios, recording their 19-song debut album ‘Listen’. The release show was a spectacular event held at NYC’s Gramercy Theater with a 30 member version of the band, augmented by members of the NYU Symphony.
‘Listen’ was released on April 5th this year in the UK, mixed by Patrick Dillett (David Byrne, They Might Be Giants, Mary J Blige) and mastered by Doug Van Sloun (Bright Eyes, Cursive, The Faint, Tokyo Police Club). With influences from Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Glass, to their peers such as Arcade Fire, Daft Punk, and Sufjan Stevens, Emanuel And The Fear, create extravagant and climactic, intelligent and complex arrangements, all grounded with their strong penchant for melodic pop.
Selling out some of NYC’s most well-known venues and now embarking on their second UK/European tour in October, collecting fans such as David Byrne along the way, Emanuel and the Fear are currently working on a new “live in studio” EP and a new full length album for 2011. Anticipation for these recordings is gaining momentum... see them perform on the smaller stages whilst you can!
