Metal act ‘The Damned Things’ have finished their debut album Ironiclast, and are waiting for the December 14th release.
In what could be called a rock super group, they are full of experienced and talented musicians including two Anthrax members – Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano, Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley, and Fall Out Boy’s guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley.
The group made their debut performance at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn this summer, before embarking on a European tour. They also released their debut single from the album later in October, titled ‘We’ve Got A Situation Here’.
They also released a special 7” vinyl LP and CD single on the 26th of November, as part of Metal Club, a representative of 800 record stores across the country, and they are ‘thrilled’ to have The Damned Things as a part of such an exciting launch.
The Damned Things took their name from the song as a means to convey their gutsy intentions, which goes back to Trohman’s original hook-up with Scott Ian three years ago. “We were both interested in putting together a heavy/classic-rock, blues-oriented, riff-based band,” Trohman says, “while trying to stay away from what makes that sound generic and overplayed.”
Trohman also went on to talk about the single, saying “Musically, it’s a good representation of the band. It has the sludgy riffs, but there’s a catchy chorus, a tempo change breakdown, and some leads/solos. There’s a real bluesy feel to the verses. It’s everything the group stands for.”
