Jonathan Wilson to Support Roy Harper at London’s Royal Festival Hall

LA-based folk singer Jonathan Wilson has been confirmed as the support act for singer-songwriter Roy Harper in London next month. Wilson, who is currently on tour in the UK with Wilco, will join Harper for his one-off date at the Royal Festival Hall on Saturday 5th November before performing his own headlining date at London’s Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen on Monday 21st November. The new dates follow the release of Wilson’s debut album ‘Gentle Spirit’, which reached Number 15 in the UK Indie Chart upon its release in August. The album features guest appearances from a number of other artists including Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, Vetiver’s Andy Cabic and Gary Louris of The Jayhawks. Roy Harper is a singer and guitarist from Manchester who has been making music since the 1960s. His influence has been acknowledged by the likes of Fleet Foxes, Kate Bush, Pete Townshend and Led Zeppelin, who famously dedicated their 1970 track ‘Hats Off to (Roy) Harper’ to him. Harper also featured as lead vocalist on Pink Floyd’s ‘Have a Cigar’ from their album ‘Wish You Were Here’. In 1985, he released the album ‘Whatever Happened to Jugula?’, which was a collaborative effort with Jimmy Page.
