Lady Gaga Becomes First To Reach 20million Twitter Followers

Eccentric pop superstar Lady Gaga has broken yet another record – after she managed to break 20,000,000 followers on social networking site Twitter, making her the first person to do so.

Gaga has been a part of the site for four years now and uses it to speak to and communicate with her fans – who she knows as ‘little monsters’. After quickly gaining a huge Twitter fanbase, she became the most popular user of the site in 2010 – overtaking Britney Spears. It’s almost surprising that she’s managing to beat Justin Bieber, who has possibly the most crazily obsessed fanbase in the world. Bieber is currently the second most popular though, with just 18,000,000 compared to Gaga’s 20,000,000.

Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly for this day and age), popstars make up the top five most popular figures on the site – leaving politicians (even including US President Barack Obama) trailing. Obama only has 12.8million followers while the likes of Gaga, Bieber, Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Shakira all reaching more people.

Lady Gaga is currently preparing herself for her forthcoming Born This Way Ball world tour, for which she’s already announced Australian, New Zealand, and Asian dates. Gaga’s expected to announce some UK dates in the coming couple of weeks – so stay glued to Stereoboard to find out when Gaga’s coming to a venue near you.
