Locksem To Release Debut EP 'My Turn' On May 14th

Cardiff-based drum and bass producer Locksem, a.k.a 20 year-old Taunton-born Alex Loxham, is set to release his debut EP 'My Turn' on May 14th, via Lockdown Recordings – the same label that catapulted the legendary Interface into the limelight.

While he may be a fresh face to most, Locksem is no stranger to electronic music, and has been working on his production and Djing since the age of 14. After venturing out to promotion at a young age, he even had success putting on nights in his local town of Taunton, Somerset – something which allowed him to showcase his mixing skills as well as his tracks to a club packed full of hardcore drum and bass heads.

Now, with education in mind, he resides in Cardiff – home of drum and bass legend High Contrast as well as Hospital Records' new prodigy Lung, and, of course, the legendary Aperture club nights. Combining uni work with his production, Locksem has earned himself a highly sought-after residency at Aperture, where he performs alongside fellow student and DJ Resonate – another name to look out for in the Welsh capital.

So, after years and years of promotion, production and performing, he's ready to release his first ever extended player 'My Turn' – a four track release that is set to mark the start of what is shaping to be a successful career in the realms of 170bpm music. You may have heard the EP's lead track, 'Ammunition', on Lung's recent Med School Fabric Live mix – if you haven't, check it out, and you'll understand why big name producers such as Lung have been playing the track out at club nights across the country.

Each track on the EP packs a punch, making the whole thing a knockout release and a great showcase of Locksem's talented production. With 'Ammunitions' bass-face inducing and sample-driven drop (you really should 'beware', this track is definitely equipped for warfare), the track goes down a treat on a huge system and has received a lot of attention on the Locksem SoundCloud page. 'Epilogue' and 'My Turn' both provide you with dark vibes, with the pounding snares and eery melodies ('Epilogues' smart use of a church bell will leave you haunted!) completing a great first release for the young man. Lockdown's Cybin concludes the EP with a reworking of 'My Turn'.

You can hear clips of each of the EP's tracks (sans the Cybin remix of 'My Turn') on his SoundCloud page, or 'Like' his Facebook page for regular updates. Make sure you stay in touch with this producer if you listen to drum and bass – he's a name to watch and a force to be reckoned with. And, if you like the music, get yourself down to Aperture, where you can catch Locksem back to back with Resonate reguarly.

'My Turn' EP Tracklisting:

1) Ammunition
2) Epilogue
3) My Turn
4) My Turn (Cybin Remix)
