Rihanna Kicks Off 'Diamonds' UK Tour With Sold-Out Gig At Cardiff's Millennium Stadium

Tuesday, 11 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Barbados-born beauty Rihanna kicked off the UK leg of her Diamonds world tour in style last night, performing to 60,000 fans in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

The singer put on one of the biggest shows the city has seen all year - with road closures, disruption to travel, and extra train services all the result of an incredible influx of RiRi lovers descending on the town. If you were in Cardiff yesterday, it would have been hard not to notice something big was going down in town.

And, something big was going down indeed - fans began filling the stadium at just 4:30pm-ish, around four hours before the star was even due to hit the stage. Luckily, the audience was treated to the likes of dancefloor fillers GTA and the mighty David Guetta, who kept the crowd entertained as they waited for the ‘S&M’ star.

The gig was said to have gone down amazingly, and she’s even reportedly become the youngest person ever to sell out the venue. You can check out some tweets from those lucky enough to have attended embedded below.

If you weren’t at the gig, but are a fan of the singer, you’ve luckily got a few more chances to catch her performing in a UK stadium this June - she’s also got some arena gigs lined-up for July, too!
