Raven And Girlschool Team Up For Co-Headline UK Tour

Monday, 15 July 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Raven and Girlschool are teaming up for a historic NWOBHM tour, dubbed the British Classic Double Headliner Tour 2013.

Raven formed in 1974 and started out occasionally opening shows for punk bands such as the Stranglers and the Motors. The band recorded and toured until 2001, when a wall collapsed on guitarist Mark Gallagher, crushing his legs. Raven went on hiatus for nearly five years, while the guitarist rehabilitated, though Raven never officially disbanded.

Following a number of US shows and European festival appearances (Bloodstock, Keep it True, Bang Your Head) the band released latest album 'Walk Through Fire' on Metal Blade. The band have been steadily playing live, playing the European festival circuit, making a triumphant return to Japan and playing their first shows in South America.

Currently the band are set to release a retrospective DVD entitled 'Rock Until You Drop' featuring footage from 1982 onwards and interviews with Lars Ulrich, Dee Snider, Jon Z, Dave Ellefson, Chuck Billy.

Girlschool, the original all-female rockers, are still on the road, now celebrating their 35th anniversary with three original members on board. Enid Williams has rejoined Kim McAuliffe and Denise Dufort, with Jackie Chambers completing the quartet.

Catch these two legendary bands in action, back where they belong, on stages across the UK this November. The tour begins at Manchester Sound Control on November 26 before visiting Glasgow, Newcastle, Dudley and London. The tour concludes at Bristol Bierkeller on December 1.
