Cardiff’s live music scene appears to have suffered yet another blow, as Bogiez Rock Bar & Club has closed its doors.
The venue officially opened in 2011 and has attracted a number of live acts to its stage, as well as providing a regular haunt for Cardiff's metalheads and rockers.
The club was threatened with closure back in May after an application was submitted to turn Northgate House (the building above Bogiez) into a 66-bedroom student accommodation block, with the nightclub basement to be used as “ancillary space”. At present, it is unknown whether this is the reason behind the closure.
A message on the front doors of the club currently reads: 'Due to circumstances beyond our control Bogiez Rock Club at these premises is now closed'.

A full statement will be made shortly which you will find on our website and Facebook page. This will explain the circumstances of our closure and our future plans.
We are now in the process of moving or rescheduling the live music events that were due to take place at this venue. For shows we are unable to reschedule, full refunds will be provided.
We ask for some patience in this matter whilst we make preparations.
The closure of the club is terrible news for Cardiff, a city that has seen the Millennium Music Hall, The Point, and The Toucan Club closing in recent years. Even the long-running Clwb Ifor Bach has faced threats.
