Carl Froch and George Groves have proven themselves as heavyweights in the popularity stakes, with ticket demand for their 80,000 capacity rematch at Wembley Stadium on May 31 generating extraordinary demand.
Data from viagogo revealed ticket demand for the grudge match has soared an almost unparalleled 347% since they went on sale yesterday. The fight instantly became the most popular sports event on viagogo, even outstripping searches for the remaining Six Nations matches by 3:1.
A spokesperson for viagogo said:
"The demand for this fight proves that there is a huge appetite for boxing in Britain and will further contribute to the hype surrounding what is surely set to be an explosive encounter. You have to go back a long way to see a fight in the UK fought in front of so many fans, so it’s set to be an unmissable event for fight fans."
Tickets were snapped up quicker than the record 55,000 total set by Ricky Hatton's 2007 bout against Juan Lazcano at Manchester City's ground.
