Yusuf / Cat Stevens has announced his 17th studio album.

'King Of A Land' is scheduled to arrive on June 16 through BMG and the George Harrison-founded Dark Horse Records.

Work on the LP started in 2011 at Hansa Studios, Berlin, where David Bowie tracked 'Heroes' and U2 recorded 'Achtung Baby'. Other sessions took place in Brussels, Provence in the south of France, London, and Stevens' home studio in Dubai.

He commented: "Most of the songs started with me playing and recording everything at home in the garage - it’s as close as you can get to being inside my head."

Produced by his regular collaborator Paul Samwell-Smith, who has worked with Stevens since 1970's 'Mona Bone Jakon', it marks the 74-year-old's first collection of original songs since 2014's 'Tell 'Em I’m Gone'. Musicians featured on the record include bassist Bruce Lynch, who played on 1974's 'Buddha And The Chocolate Box', drummer Russ Kunkel, and regular band members Kwame Yeboah and Eric Appapoulay.

As a preview, the legendary singer-songwriter has shared the record's lead single, Take The World Apart, a sunny, acoustic track that comes with an animated video from Peter Reynolds, who has also created illustrations for each of the album's 12 tracks.

'King Of A Land' tracklist:

1. Train on a Hill
2. King of a Land
3. Pagan Run
4. He is True
5. All Nights, All Days
6. Another Night in the Rain
7. Things
8. Son of Mary
9. Highness
10. The Boy Who Knew How to Climb Walls
11. How Good it Feels
12. Take The World Apart
