Peaches has shared the title track from her upcoming album, her first in over a decade.
Leaning into sex-positive themes over synths and a driving beat, No Lube So Rude arrives alongside a video directed by Matt Lambert and produced in collaboration with acclaimed indie erotic filmmaker Erika Lust, with choreography by Constanza Macras. The promo's explicit director's cut is available via erikalust.com. Peaches said of the song:
"When the world is friction, lube isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity. It’s how you turn that friction into pleasure, into power, into pride. I want people to understand that they can still have a voice no matter who they are or what the world says about them."
Director Lambert shared: "The last few years have been defined by tension — seeing ourselves divided further and further. We’ve been watching the rise of fascism in the far right, which includes censorship of our language, our bodies, our expression, our existence. A lot of us have been full of anger, paralyzed by it at times.
"However, in Berlin, there’s been something magical brewing within the queer punk underground led by performers and artists like BLEACH (and their partner Nancy), Mad Kate, Pappy Pistola, Valerian Steel and so many others. This video is a brief antidote to the rage – harnessing the power of our sexual joy as a momentary collective breath – a deep inhale to power us into the abyss."
"Sexual freedom strengthens political freedom," commented Lust. "Supporting this film was about defending pleasure, expression, and resistance in the face of repression."
Recorded in Berlin with producer The Squirt Deluxe, 'No Lube So Rude' is due out on February 20, marking Peaches' first release for the label Kill Rock Stars.
She'll support the follow-up to 2015's 'Rub' with the No Lube So Rude Tour across North America in February and March, with support from Model/Actriz on the East Coast dates, and Cortisa Star joining the Midwest and West Coast shows. The UK and European leg will take place in spring and includes stops in Dublin, Manchester, Glasgow and London. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
