Dr Dre Speaks About Delay On New 'Detox' Album

Hip Hop legend Dr Dre has released some more news about his long delayed new album ‘Detox’.

Recognised as one of the most respected and influential artists in hip hop. Dr Dre ushered in the gangsta rap era spearheading NWA before founding the smooth, laid back G Funk style with fellow iconic rap star Snoop Dogg.

As we said goodbye to the nineties, a new voice from Detroit hooked up with Dr Dre to turn rap music and American pop culture upside down. I am of course talking about Eminem, who’s comeback album ‘Relapse’ was produced by Dre last year.

Since then Dr Dre has left fans anticipating his next move. Waiting for his own solo release ‘Detox’, the album has long been delayed. In an interview with newspaper The Guardian, Dr Dre revealed some of the secrets of his brilliant producing skills. "Engineering and mixing are absolutely key," he revealed. "Once a song is done, for me personally, it's usually two or three days to get the mixdown."

The producer continued to reveal the preparation he has done prior to the release of ‘Detox’. "I have to go out to clubs now," he said. "You need to understand what people are listening to. I'm working hard on it. I'm stopping to work on other artists in-between, but the minute it's done and I feel it right here," he said. "I don't think I've done that record yet. I'll know what it is when it comes; I know exactly what it is in my head, but I haven't done it yet. It's close."

"I got some shit coming, believe me" he claimed.

So, perhaps a case of good things come to those who wait? Dr Dre’s new album ‘Detox’ is scheduled for release in 2011.
