unpeople Announce Debut Album 'we are unpeople' With New Single friends

unpeople have laid out plans for their debut album.
The London-based four-piece will release 'we are unpeople' through SharpTone Records on October 9, following their 2024 self-titled EP. Featuring huge choruses, rip-roaring guitar riffs and genre-mashing twists of unpredictability, the album has already been previewed with the singles clouds, the garden and waste.
Alongside the announcement, the band have shared a further preview in the form of friends, which delivers throat-shredding vocals, angular guitars and catchy melodies. Vocalist Jake Crawford explained:
"friends’ is essentially a love song from the perspective of someone who is wholly sceptical about the very concept of love and what it’s come to mean in a modern context. I am essentially saying I am going to kill the very concept of love before it’s even had a chance to get a hold of me - I am that afraid of being that vulnerable. I'd rather not bother than risk saying something I don’t mean, and then pay for it emotionally down the line. I’m fully aware that this is not necessarily healthy, but the mind takes you to some strange places when strong feelings are involved."
On the album, the band added: "‘we are unpeople’ is released into the world on October 9th and we couldn’t be more proud of it. We collectively put our absolute everything into it and we can’t wait to share it with you all!"
Fresh from an appearance at Slam Dunk festival last month, the band, completed by Luke Caley, Em Lodge and Richard Rayner, will play a sold-out London show at 26 Leake Street tonight (June 9) prior to a slot at Download festival this weekend and sets at several festivals across Europe over the next couple of months. They'll also appear at Radar festival in Manchester in July and Reading and Leeds in August, followed by a UK tour supporting Don Broco in the autumn. Tickets are on sale now.
