Meshuggah are a Swedish progressive metal band from Umeå, currently consisting of founding members, frontman Jens Kidman, and guitarist Fredrik Thordendal, alongside guitarist player Mårten Hagström, bassist Dick Lövgren, and drummer Tomas Haake.

Formed in 1987, the band released their debut album, ‘Contradictions Collapse’ in 1991, followed by ‘Destroy Erase Improve’ in 1995 and ‘Chaosphere’ in 1998. The band became more experimental with ‘Nothing’ in 2002, and ‘Catch Thirtythree’ in 2005, but returned to their original sound for 2008’s ‘obZen’. The band’s latest release was ‘The Violent Sleep of Reason’ in 2016.

The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK, including a London show in December 2014, celebrating their 25th anniversary. Most recently, they play a short North American tour with Code Orange and Toothgrinder.
