Foo Fighters Debut New Songs At Secret L.A. Show

Seattle rockers Foo Fighters have recently unveiled new material at a tiny secret show in Los Angeles. The band took time out from recording their latest album earlier this week to play a one-off intimate show to fans, friends and family members.

The Palladino’s venue in Los Angeles was reportedly littered with famous faces who had come to watch the special performance, and actors Ryan Phillippe, Shane West and ‘Mamma Mia’ star Amanda Seyfried were reported to be among the collected crowd. Foo Fighters opened with classic hit ‘Times Like These’, before playing a set which launched though the better-known side of their back-catalogue including ‘My Hero’, ‘Generator’, ‘The Pretender’ and ‘Learn To Fly.’

However, Foo Fighters really excited fans when they debuted several songs from their upcoming seventh studio album. The band broke in several new songs, including ‘Dear Rosemary’ and ‘White Limo'. Grohl hinted to the select crowd that a new energetic number, ‘Back and Forth’ may end up as the title for their upcoming release.

The band were also joined on stage by former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, who is also said to feature on the new album. The former bassist came on to play during one song, presumably called ‘I Should Have Known’. Speaking on Novoselic’s contribution earlier this year, Grohl said: “There’s a song called ‘I Should Have Known’ that I thought would sound great with his bass-playing and accordion-playing. It’s probably the darkest song on the album.”

The album, produced by Butch Vig (who also worked on Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’) is the follow-up to the band’s 2007 release, ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’. Early speculation has chalked the album for a release date early next summer.
