N-Dubz starlet Tulisa should tread carefully around her bandmates for the next few days after revealing that she didn’t like their latest single, ‘Girls’. The singer declared in an interview with MTV earlier this week that she wasn’t a fan of the band’s latest offering: "...it's still not one of my favourite songs on the album. ‘Best Behaviour’ was more my thing, which is what I chose to have as the first single, but Dappy got to have ‘Girls’. So even in the band there's a difference to what we all like."
The video for ‘Girls’ was itself a hot topic when launched in November: the video received many complaints when it originally aired showing Dappy on a throne doing wonders for feminism, working his way through a revolving queue of scantily-clad women.
However, Tulisa doesn’t appear to be all about the negativity. Speaking to a British newspaper recently, the N-Dubz singer announced that the band’s ambition is in no way limited to just the British Isles. She said: “We want to go out to America almost representing what we were when we first started, so they can see what we’re really about. We’re taking N-Dubz to a universal worldwide level, we’re not changing the sound, we’re just making it more universal. We want every single person in the world to know N-Dubz - we want to sell millions of albums all around the world.” Some may be cynical about their aspirations, but after having signed a deal with Def Jam recordings in May this year, an all-out assault on American airwaves could very well be in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, Dappy took a moment during this festive season to address the nation one-to-one. Speaking on pop music show T4, the rapper made an extended Christmas message, speaking about the state of the British music scene and the importance of charity...watch your back Elizabeth.
