Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am has revealed that he is looking to create a social website which will rival the likes of Facebook and Twitter. In an interview earlier this week, the singer confessed that he plans to create something which will rival Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook.
He said: “Everything’s changed and still is changing. These sites bring tens of millions of people together every day, so when I see Twitter and Facebook, I see the Stones and the Beatles. Ten years from now, I could be Zuckerberg.”
However, it would appear that the R&B star has other contentions to deal with beforehand: it has recently been announced that Parliament-Funkadelic star George Clinton has decided to sue the band for copyright infringement. Clinton’s lawyers are seeking damages for “millions” regarding two remixes of the band’s 2003 hit ‘Shut Up’, including ‘Shut the Phunk Up’, a track which featured as a bonus track on their 2009 release ‘The E.N.D’.
Clinton has claimed that he was approached last year by the band’s producers, seeking permission to use a sample in their song. However, the funk legend says that he refused to sign any contract and refused to grant permission to the Black Eyed Peas. Clinton continued to suggest that producers connected to the band chose to forge his signature on a licensing agreement, and so he has chosen to sue the band, seeking a large amount in compensation for royalties and compensation for the forgery.
The incident is only one in a long line of allegations waged at the R&B band. Songwriters Bryan Pringle, Phoenix Phenom and Canadian producer Deadmau5 have all claimed that the band stole previously recorded material and used it in their music without seeking permission.NOTE FROM THE EDITOR We don't run any advertising!
