Alt-J are an English alternative rock band from Leeds, currently consisting of frontman Joe Newman, keyboard player Gus Unger-Hamilton, drummer Thom Green. Bass player Gwil Sainsbury left the band in 2014.
Formed in 2007, at university, the band signed to Infectious Records and released their debut self-titled EP in 2011. The band’s debut album, ‘An Awesome Wave’ hit shelves in May 2012, peaking at #13 in the UK Albums Chart and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. They returned to the scene with the release of their highly anticipated follow-up, 'This Is All Yours', in 2014, which hit the top spot in the chart. The band are set to release their third album, ‘Relaxer', on June 9th, 2017.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK, and have appeared at festivals such as Latitude, Bestival, Reading and Leeds, T in the Park and Green Man.
Alt-J played London’s O2 Arena in June in celebration of the venue’s 10 anniversary, and next head out for a show at Dublin’s Trinity College as part of The Summer Series in July, with US shows pencilled in for summer too. They'll also be appearing at festivals like Boardmasters and Bluedot.
