Sea of Bees to Tour with Smoke Fairies in January

Thursday, 18 November 2010 Written by Rob Sleigh

Solo folkster Julie Baenziger – aka Sea of Bees – is to tour with Sussex-based blues-folk duo Smoke Fairies in January next year. The dates will take place ahead of the new Sea of Bees album ‘Song For The Ravens’, which is due out in the UK on 7th February through Heavenly Recordings.

Smoke Fairies’ debut album ‘Through Low Light and Trees’, which was released in September, has been described as a cross between American blues music and English folk. Since its release, the album has already garnered a number of praising reviews in the music press. The duo have previously toured with Richard Hawley and Bryan Ferry and, on last year’s single ‘Gastown/River Song’, they worked with Jack White, who produced and played on the track. The record was also released through White’s label Third Man Records.

Californian solo artist Sea of Bees, whose previous releases have included the humorously-titled ‘Bee Eee Pee’, released her latest single ‘The Woods’ last month. Click here to read Stereoboard’s review of the track.
