National charity group Crisis UK are attempting to banish homelessness – by collaborating with Catholic electro-pop band Ooberfuse and top dance producers Paul Castle and Loverush UK!.
The group have written a new dance track, entitled ‘Flicker’, and pre-released it yesterday on Ditto Music. The band will donate all the profits from the track to Crisis UK, saying “If homelessness can’t be ended today, at least the lives of homeless people can be transformed.”
The track is said to be inspired by the bands own experience of homelessness, with Ooberfuse member Hal admitting “When you are down and out and have no-where to lay your head other than a wooden park bench or the concrete floor of a shop doorway, it is easy to be overwhelmed by feelings of desperation and loneliness.”
Cherrie, another member Ooberfuse, added “The song opens up to these feelings showing how serious and isolating homelessness can be. But instead of wallowing in sadness it shows how, in these crisis moments of our lives, we discover we are not alone... The lingering darkness is dispersed by the light of a gently flickering flame.”
And last of the trio to speak, Cornel, expanded saying “The existence of homelessness calls into question the values underpinning our frenetic, busy, modern lives. The sincere smile and heart-felt gratitude of a homeless person shines a searching light into our often inauthentic lives, reminding us that we are all on a journey home - until a world of peace and love prevails we are all homesick and homeless fugitives. We deceive ourselves when we think we have arrived.”
Ooberfuse joined forces with trance producer Paul Castle, who’s worked with many stars such as Eminem and Marc Almond, and Loverush UK!, a duo comprising of Mark Loverush and Kinky Roland who had a #1 in the UK Club Charts with ‘Firefly’.
The single is due out in January 2011, with an official music video and a remix from Dreamcatcher.
