Sonisphere Festival 2011: New Announcement Expected Tonight 8PM (GMT)

Last week Slipknot and Biffy Clyro were announced as the first headliners of next year's Knebworth-based, three-day rock extravaganza, Sonisphere Festival. Another announcement is being made by event organisers tonight at 8pm.

Already confirmed for the international juggernaut of a festival that is Sonisphere, masked Iowa legends of metal Slipknot will be ending their tradegy-enduced hiatus and treading the boards of the massive Apollo stage. Speaking about the forthcoming show, Slipknot commented. “We’re looking forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us and our fans. It’s about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer.”

Coming as an odd choice to some fans, Scottish rock heroes Biffy Clyro were also announced as headliners for 2011's festival. Bringing their famously energetic live performance, award-winning rock outs and catchy singalong anthems to Sonisphere for the first time, Biffy Clyro will be hitting the main stage for an exclusive headlining set on the Saturday night.

Fans have been told by Sonisphere organisers to expect more shocks as the line-up is revealed in the lead up to the 2011 rock event. A statement from Sonisphere said. “Although the full line up for 2011 cannot yet be revealed, some hugely exciting names are already confirmed, and will be announced on Monday, alongside details of free festival tickets abroad, plus the return of Sonisphere’s hugely successful deposit scheme.”

Check Sonisphere UK's official website www.sonispherefestivals.com at 8.00PM (GMT) tonight for details of the announcement!
