No Doubt Set To Release New Album This Year

After a wait of over 10 years it seems it's nearly time for the first new material from Californian pop punkers No Doubt since 2001.

Guitarist Tom Dumont took to his Twitter account a few days ago and posted, "Holidays over. 2010 done. 10 new songs written. No Doubt's 2011 New Year's resolution: to record our new album... beginning today!" This follows the September announcement from bass player Tony Kanal revealing the band were working on a new album and planning a World tour to promote it.

Dumont gave further detail on the progress of the album with an additional comment "To clarify: last year we were in studio mostly writing, just some recording. Starting today back in the studio, mostly recording."

No Doubt would become the latest band to make a comeback recently following the triumphant returns of, among others, Blink 182, Linkin Park and Rob Zombie. All of whom will be playing in the UK later this year.

Since 2001's 'Rock Steady' No Doubt have taken a back burner to vocalist Gwen Stefani's solo career for the most part while Dumont also worked on a side project with 'Invincible Overlord'. After their rise to prominence in the 90's with hits such as 'Just A Girl' and 'Don't Speak,' the last time the band worked together was during a support slot with Blink 182 in 2004. After a few guest performances in 2009 the band re-convened in May last year to begin working seriously on the new, as yet untitled album.
