Dubstep Duo Mount Kimbie Announce New London Show

Saturday, 22 January 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

London-based dubstep duo Mount Kimbie have announced details of their biggest headlining show to date, which will take place at Heaven on 28th April. The gig follows the group’s critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Crooks and Lovers’, which was released in June 2010. Upon its release, ‘Crooks and Lovers’ was widely praised throughout the British press.

The album, which mixes together a number of different genres including dubstep, garage and hip-hop, was recently named as one of the ten nominees for the Guardian’s annual First Album Award. Mount Kimbie will be competing for the prize with nine other debut albums released in 2010 by artists including Delphic, Everything Everything, Marina and the Diamonds, Rumer and Tinie Tempah.

Mount Kimbie recently released the video for album track ‘Before I Move Off’, which was created by filmmaker Tyrone Lebon. Lebon previously worked with the duo when taking pictures for their album artwork and press shots. Watch the video below.

Talking about the video and working with Lebon, Mount Kimbie said: “I think it works because he's so interested in not just making a music video for the song, but creating something that he is proud of and is as much to do with himself as an artist. I'm not a visual artist so I've really enjoyed discussing ideas and just chatting to Tyrone and then leaving him to get on with his work independently.”
