The Low Anthem Announce New Album and April Tour Dates & Tickets

US folk rock band The Low Anthem are to release their new album ‘Smart Flesh’ on 21st February. The album follows their 2009 breakthrough release ‘Oh My God, Charlie Darwin’. The Low Anthem have also announced a short tour of the UK and Ireland in April, as well as their biggest UK show to date at London’s Roundhouse in November.

‘Smart Flesh’ was recorded in an abandoned pasta sauce factory in The Low Anthem’s home state of Rhode Island. It was produced by the band and mixed by Bright Eyes’s Mike Mogis. Speaking about the recording process, The Low Anthem’s Ben Knox Miller said: “We knew right away when we stepped into the factory that the space was really the main instrument for the whole record. The resonance was chilling. We were able to experiment with new recording techniques to capture the sound at different distances.”

The Low Anthem have previously been noted for their use of unusual instruments and recording techniques. On this occasion, instruments include jaw harp, musical saw, stylophone, three antique pump organs and oversized drum kits.
