French power-pop trio Pony Pony Run Run are to play the first ever gig that streams directly through Spotify.
Pony Pony Run Run are taking a break from their hectic schedule to hop over the channel and play at KOKO in Camden on the 5th April. The gig will be the first ever to stream on Spotify and will feature Delphic, The Naked and Famous, plus the added bonus of LaRoux DJing. Last year was a good one for Pony Pony Run Run, they picked up an EMA, sold out an arena tour of France and their debut album went platinum.
And as well as becoming the first act to play over Spotify, they are also on the verge of their first UK single release.
Pony Pony Run Run will release ‘Hey You’ this spring on May 16th. It’s stacked full of swirling synths, pulsing electronic basslines and catchy pop melodies. The single is also accompanied by some really exciting remixes that will be announced in due course.
The band spent last year touring all over the world playing to packed out audiences in Paris, Tokyo, Warsaw and Madrid, as well as supporting Katy Perry in Glasgow. They also won Best French Band at the EMA’s against such acts as David Guetta and Phoenix. Somehow amongst all this the band managed to release their debut album which gained platinum selling status in their native France.
