No Return For Velvet Revolver For 2 Years

Following news not so long ago that Velvet Revolver were trying out new singers as they looked for a replacement for Scott Weiland, Slash has now revealed there will be no return for the band until at least 2013.

Taking time out of his extensive World tour, which currently sees the guitar legend playing in South America, Slash also admitted to Vorterix.com that they had tried out Slipknots Corey Taylor for the role.

"We did work with Corey, but all we were doing was trying him out. Our process is that we take a lot of music we wrote and give it to the guy we're auditioning, he writes his lyrics, we perform it, record it and see what it's like."

Taylor certainly would’ve been a high profile replacement for the band originally made up from what was left of Slash, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan following the end of Guns N Roses (the proper version anyway), Dave Kushner of Wasted Youth and Stone Temple Pilots Weiland. However, Slash went on to admit that neither Taylor, or anyone else they’ve auditioned quite fits what they’re looking for.

"So he did come in and do all that, but it just wasn't right. It didn't seem to fit to me. It didn't seem like the answer to the Velvet Revolver problem. No new singers that are good enough for the group have popped up."

Later in the interview Slash said that even if they had found a singer, the separate band members schedules would put any new work with Velvet Revolver on the back burner while also confirming he is ready to begin work on a follow up to his self titled solo album, working alongside Myles Kennedy.

"Duff's got his own thing, I've got my thing, Matt's got his thing... Next year I definitely will make another Slash record with Myles Kennedy and go on tour. So at least for the next couple of years, nothing is going to be happening with Velvet Revolver that I can see 'cause I'll be focused on this. And after that's over, if something happens... I'm just not really concerning myself with it right now. We had all these different guys try out, all really good singers, but nobody has fit the thing, so, you know, I have to move on."

Slash has hinted recently that a UK tour is in the works, as soon as we hear any further news on any UK dates you’ll know about it.
