Laika Dog Announce Details Of New Album

Laika Dog. The first dog in space. Checking out that it is safe for all those to follow. Floating around without a clue of what all those buttons and levers do but still breaking down barriers and forging on in a dog like pioneer manner.

Ok so we haven't been to space and we don't have a clue about the buttons and levers, we do however know how to put our feeling and experiences into song. Not the overproduced song about nothing you have heard constantly on the radio but songs that all song writers would probably write if they lived in Keighley.

Tony bounced his way through the 90's with rock band Terrorvision whilst Paddy (Bass), his brother Sim (Guitar) and friend Parry were busy growing up. Teaching themselves how to play those Led Zep riffs and beats eventually evolving into local band 'The Slow Emotion'. Tony met Paddy as both Terrorvision and The Slow Emotion were starting to falter. As likeminded “Wanna play” rather than “wannabes,” they got together and joined forces.

He had a big bag of songs and no-one to play them with at the time so the 4 very different souls agreed to meet up however many times a week and thrash out the tunes he had.

The band continued on their mission playing more gigs and building a very loyal and supportive fan base. This allowed Laika Dog to do what they wanted and manifest their feelings into the songs....

“So for now we landed the craft and are ready to go on our very own moon walk with the latest offering.”

The album shows the whole band having the freedom to input their own individual ideas the result being a blend from the last years that they have spent together, writing and recording the latest offering. Again you are more likely to hear a song about poor care for old folk than you are to hear a song about the shadows of love, but that is what Laika Dog are. They can't be something they are not and the rest is down to folk who get out there and find this kind of thing for themselves. “Keep an eye in the sky and when you see that bright light spare a thought for a band that aren't following the well trodden path of those who have gone before, but in a way are enjoying the lack of control they have for their destiny.”

The New Album starts with 'Out of Control', a pounding anthem of core Brit rock sound with cruising melodies and great feel. Definitely on the Led Zep vibe, 'Mercury' is a steaming rock song with balls and integrity which seems to devour most of the albums style. It does push and it does pull as an album and that’s exactly what they want it to do.

'Church Of Sin' shows a much more developed and deep side to the band creating shifting dynamics and an original exciting vibe. Laika Dog has managed to produce an album that covers all emotional bases with class and groove.

It doesn't stay in one safe place as “we wouldn't learn nowt from that”. The best way to see what life in Keighley is like for folk who write songs is to listen to the album, close your eyes and go there yourself on a rocket with a dog at the controls.

'Laika Dog' will be released through Too Many Robots on 25th April 2011
