Adele has admitted that it was never her ambition to become a professional recording artist. The London-born singer is currently enjoying unprecedented success with her sophomore album ‘21’, however she has recently revealed that she only ever took up music in order to pass her GCSE’s.
Speaking to Fabulous Magazine, the ‘Rolling In The Deep’ star said: "I never had the aim of being a professional recording artist. The only reason I ended up studying music at the BRIT School was because I knew I was going to fail my GCSEs, so I panicked."
She continued: "I knew I'd pass all the music and performance stuff, and because of that I thought I’d get work somewhere in the music industry. Getting signed was never an ambition. And the fame thing still feels odd, you know what I mean? Reactions from fans take my breath away."
Adele earned her 15th non-consecutive week at Number One in the UK Albums chart on Sunday (May 15th). However, it would appear that it is not just the British public who have taken a shine to the Londoner. Speaking to The Sun this weekend, rapper Nicki Minaj stated that she would love to do a collaboration with Adele.
Minaj said: "There are loads of UK artists I'd like to work with. I think Adele is dope, I'm a really big fan of hers. I'm sure we'll meet eventually.
She continued, declaring her love for the English accent: "I just love the way you guys talk. It's so funny and beautiful to me so I've been brushing up."
