Thursday Unveil Video to New Single ‘Magnets Caught in a Metal Heart’

Sunday, 22 May 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

New Jersey post-hardcore band Thursday have revealed the video for their new single ‘Magnets Caught in a Metal Heart’, which is taken from their recently-released sixth album ‘No Devolucion’. The video, which you can watch below, draws its style from the album’s cover art – conceived by artist Mia Pearlman – and was directed by British performance artists Davy and Kristin McGuire.

Speaking about the video to Spin Magazine, vocalist Geoff Rickly said: “In the past that's been so much of what Thursday has used - images of transportation, cities, metropolises, power-lines have always been a running theme. We decided we wouldn't tell them anything about what we do, and we'd let them bring some fresh new scenes, but when it came back, we were like, ‘Oh, that's weird. Here we are again’.”

Thursday were recently in the UK to play some shows for the 10th anniversary of their album ‘Full Collapse’. Rickly told Stereoboard that the band will be back later in the year to bring ‘No Devolucion’ to their British fans: “We’re planning on trying to tour over here as much as possible. Especially with the amazing reaction that the press have given this record in the UK. We want to make this record kind of attached to England because it feels more like an English record than anything we’ve done before.”
