Cher Lloyd Describes Busta Rhymes Collaboration As An “Anthem For The Generation”

Monday, 13 June 2011 Written by James Conlon

Never short of confidence, ‘X Factor’ contestant Cher Lloyd has described her recent collaboration with US rapper Busta Rhymes as an "anthem for my generation". The 17-year-old singer has collaborated with the rapper on a track for her debut studio album (tentatively titled ‘Ingenious’), which is scheduled for release later this summer.

Speaking at a website launch in London, the young singer also went on to claim that she has co-written every track on her debut release – a feat which she is already encouraging other artists to attempt to do.

In an interview with The Sun, Lloyd described the process of co-writing material, saying: "It's a big part of being an artist. If you can't sit with someone and write your own tracks, what's the point of doing it? They're not your songs. They're somebody else's."

The singer went on to discuss her former ‘X Factor’ mentor Cheryl Cole, who was recently axed from the US version of the hit singing competition. Lloyd confirmed that she had not recently been in contact with the Geordie singer, saying: "She's busy. I know she's thinking of me."

Meanwhile, Cher Lloyd recently filmed the video for the lead single from her debut album, rumoured to be titled ‘Swagger Jagger’.
