Two Deaths Confirmed At Bonnaroo Music Festival

A second death has been confirmed from last weekend’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The organisers of the event have confirmed that the body of a 24-year-old man was found on the final day of the festival, which takes place annually in Manchester, Tennessee.

The news was confirmed yesterday (June 13th), a day after the festival’s final performances. Although reports are currently few and far between, it has been confirmed that the death of Christopher William Yoder was discovered on the final day of the event. Early reports have attributed the death to hyperthermia.

Yoder’s death follows that of 32-year-old Beth Myers, whose body was found on the first day of the American music festival (according to Associated Press).

When the death was initially reported, Captain Frank Watkins of the Tennessee County Sheriff’s department stated that organisers were “unsure if heat exhaustion or any type of heat-related illness played a part in it", however organisers have confirmed that of the 80,000 people attending the event, over 1,500 were treated for heat exhaustion and heat-related illnesses.

The festival, which celebrated its tenth year as an event last weekend, featured performances from Arcade Fire, Eminem, The Strokes, The Decemberists and Mumford and Sons.
