Basshunter Cleared Of Sexual Assault Charges

Basshunter has been cleared of two sexual assault charges, waged against the Swedish DJ after an incident which occurred in December last year. The ‘Now You’re Gone’ musician (real name Jonas Altberg) was accused of pulling up the dress of a woman in a Kirkcaldy club before slapping her on the bum.

However, s Fife court heard Sheriff Maxwell Hendry rule yesterday (June 14th) that the evidence of the two girls accusing Basshunter was "neither credible nor reliable", according to The Daily Record.

Hendry said: "The witnesses' evidence was riddled with inconsistencies and improbabilities. They posed for photographs, ignored advice to contact police and instead contacted a newspaper before giving statements."

Basshunter, who attended the trial as defendant, offered the following statement about the accusations: "This has never happened in 1000 shows. I do this five days a week and meet 300,000 people every year and there has never been a complaint about my behaviour before. I can't remember the girls or anything from that night because it was a perfect night."

Basshunter is currently working on the follow-up to his third studio album ‘Bass Generation’, which reached Number 19 in the UK albums chart when it was released in 2009.
