Urban Development Host 'Re:Definition' To Help With Developing UK Urban Scene

Urban Development are an organisation who are developing the already thriving urban UK scene and what a job they are doing. With events being supported by the best acts in the UK scene including Ghetts, Kano and P Money to name a few, they are also offering the youth an opportunity to be part of a group that seems to be have captured the minds of the young and inspired them.

The organisation is based in East London and is very proud of its roots...and so it should be. They pride themselves on three areas; Professional development, Events and Education, with the latter being the one I feel is most refreshing about the whole organisation. There is a stereotype within the UK urban scene and it’s fans that is associated with gang and youth culture. This is totally unfounded with many of the people who visit these events and are educated by Urban Development are already business savvy with some of the best young entrepreneurs coming out of a similar group of people with Jamal Edwards of SBTV fame as an example.

The event Re:Definition is happening on Thursday 7th July 2011 and proves to be another progression in what is a fast growing organisation. The line-up boasts urban heavyweights such as Kano and Ghetts with exciting newcomers Talay Riley and Mikill Pane, proving that Urban Development is seen as important by such artists who come to perform and offer advice to the awaiting crowd.

The show in itself has a creative aspect to it, something synonymous with Urban Development and its staff with it boasting to be "A conceptual showcase designed to redefine urban music as we know it", providing the audience with an insight into the ‘real Eastenders’. This shows that they are thinking outside the box. It is fairly easy to just create the event with such well-known and talented artists to then conform to generic conventions and put on an average event. However, this story-telling element allows for a more interesting concept and giving the audience something to hold on to throughout. With visuals coming from music video director and producer JAK FRSH, who’s worked with Wiley and Tinie Tempah amongst others, it proves to be an impressive bunch of talented individuals who are putting together this showcase of East end urban talent.

Doors open at 7:30pm with the show starting at 8.00pm until 11.00pm with the bargain price of just £10/£12.50 to see some of the greatest acts in the UK urban scene at this current time. It is also worthwhile witnessing such a great and organised group of people who are dedicated to developing and not stereotyping the youth of particularly the East end of London.

Everything about Urban Development seems to be nothing but positive and transparent with good motives behind what it’s doing. For anyone who is interested in anything music related, this is well worth a watch with it promising to be an excellent show.
