Pulp have announced a live album and concert film.
'Live!' will arrive through Rough Trade Records on August 28 and captures the Britpop giants' two shows at London's O2 Arena last year, when they returned with their chart-topping album 'More'.
The accompanying film, Pulp: What Do You Do For an Encore?, was directed by Garth Jennings — who made Sing, The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, as well as the music video for Pulp's 1997 single Help The Aged — and is set to premiere worldwide on MUBI this autumn.
"A concert is an event where songs come back to life. That’s why this album is called 'Live!'," said Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker. "It’s both a statement of fact (it’s a recording of a live band) and a challenge (come on! Everyone come alive!)."
The mark the announcement, Pulp have shared a recording of Disco 2000 from 'Live!' and a live video of A Sunset from the concert film.
In March, Pulp digitally released a three-track EP, featuring a cover of Johnny Cash's The Man Comes Around, alongside original songs Marrying For Love and Cold Call On The Hotline, which was previously only available as a 12″ vinyl exclusive via Rough Trade shops late last year. They also contributed Begging For Change to the star-studded War Child charity album, 'HELP(2)', which also came out in March via War Child Records.
The band recently completed a run of dates in Latin America and play shows across Europe for the remainder of the summer, including performances at London's Southbank Centre to celebrate Rough Trade's 50th birthday next month and Manchester's Wythenshawe Park on August 28, with special guest Self Esteem, as well as headline sets at All Together Now in Ireland and End Of The Road in the UK. Tickets are on sale now.
