The Overtones To Close Glorious Goodwood & Have Race Named In Their Honour

Tomorrow, Saturday 30th July, the final day of this year’s Glorious Goodwood, The Overtones will be bringing this highlight of the summer sporting and social calendar to a harmonious close.

At 4.20pm thirty two-year-old colts and geldings will compete for The Overtones E.B.F. Schiaparelli Maiden Stakes (Handicap). At 6pm, after the last race, The Overtones, who blend classic harmonies with modern pop, will take to the stage to round off the five day festival in style.

The Overtones’ acclaimed live performances have attracted legions of fans and won them critical acclaim both in the UK and abroad.  Since releasing ‘Good Ol’ Fashioned Love’ in November last year the male quintet’s star has risen with sales of the album already passing the 350,000 mark and their first headline tour selling out instantly. As well as inspired interpretations of hits from yesteryear, including The Darts' ‘Come Back My Love’ and The Chords’ ‘SH-Boom (Life Could Be A Dream)’, The Overtones’ impressive armoury includes the co-written album title track and their own timeless compositions ‘Carolyn’ and showstopper ‘Gambling Man’. Their record is the 5th biggest selling debut album from a UK artist in 2011 along with Adele, Jessie J, Mumford & Sons & Tinie Tempah.

The perfect sound for summer, Timmy, Mark, Mike, Lachie and Darren recently performed at the Magic Summer Live concert at Hatfield House (alongside Sir Elton John), and will be playing at Ayr Racecourse in August and at Proms In The Park in Hyde Park, London in September. The Overtones are also performing every week at seaside resorts with ITV1’s This Morning throughout the summer.

Following the completion of their first sold out UK tour, The Overtones announced a sixteen date UK & Ireland theatre tour including a night at the London Palladium. The tour will start in Derry on October 1st and visit Belfast, Dublin, Warwick, Bournemouth, Nottingham, Birmingham, York, Bristol, Salford, Gateshead, Glasgow, Preston, London and Northampton before concluding in Ipswich on October 27th.
