Punk Veterans Rancid Planning 2012 Album and Tour

Punk and ska legends Rancid will be making a long-awaited return to the UK next year, with a range of European and British dates expected to be announced soon.

The Californian cult-heroes teased their fans last week with a post on their Facebook page that read: “Guess who's coming to play in the UK?”

The following day, the band, who turn 20 years-old this year, revealed that they had accepted an offer from Rebellion Punk Music Festival to headline the Sunday of 2012’s festival. The four-day Blackpool-based event is the number one punk festival and admitted they were “very chuffed, after 16 years of trying to get [Rancid] they finally have said yes!!”

The Facebook status also told of future Rancid dates too – it said: “August 5th - 2012 - Winter Gardens - Blackpool - UK. We will be playing Rebellion Punk Music Festival. More European and UK dates will be announced next year.”

What's more is that bassist Matt Freeman revealed last year that the band would be working on a new album around autumn time this year - which means that the band could be in the studio right now.

So, it looks like Rancid fans are in for a treat next year – the chance to catch their band headlining the UK’s biggest punk festival, a new album and what we at Stereoboard think could be a 20th year anniversary tour.
