Will.I.Am Hoped Jagger Would Reject Collaboration Request

The Black Eyed Peas’ rapper and songwriter will.i.am has revealed that he was hoping Mick Jagger would deny his request for the Rolling Stones star to feature on his new track ‘T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)’.

The Californian 36 year-old had written the track for his new solo album ‘#willpower’, which is due out in 2012, and intended for the tune to be entirely for himself. So when label bosses asked him who he’d be featuring on the song, Will thought long and hard about who he could pick that would ultimately be an impossible artist to work with – and he came up with Jagger.

“I went to play material for the label and [label boss] Jimmy Iovine's like, 'Yo, this is dope. Who are you gonna put on it?', and I'm like, 'What are you talking about? It's finished, it's me'. So, he's like, 'Oh, you don't feature no-one?

“You play your music and the first thing someone says, 'Who's gonna be on it?' So I think of the hardest thing ever. And it happened. Mick Jagger. I just wanted to throw something out there that I thought could never be possible so they would stop asking me.”

But, regardless of what he thought about bringing in other musicians, the single will feature on his new album and includes the talents of both Jagger AND J-Lo, and is online for fans to download now.
