Cinema magazine Variety have claimed that actress and director Julie Delpy is to direct a biopic based on the life of the Clash's legendary frontman Joe Strummer.
Nearly ten years since his death, Joe Strummer is still an icon to millions of people across the world.
The biopic, titled 'The Right Profile', after the Clash's song of the same name, will apparently focus on Strummer's life as well as his planned disappearance from the spotlight in 1982 - a stunt planned by the band's manager Bernie Rhodes to help boost poor ticket sales for a Scottish tour.
A Joe Strummer biopic has been talked about for quite some time and it now appears that a film will actually go ahead. French director and actress Julie Delpy, who wrote, starred and directed in 2007's '2 Days In Paris' and has also appeared in such films as 'Before Sunrise' and 'Killing Zoe', has alledgedly been confirmed to direct the biopic.
Joe Strummer died suddenly from an undiagnosed heart defect in December 2002. The Clash were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just a month later.
