Coldplay See 'Mylo Xyloto' Sales Surge Following X-Factor Performance

British alternative rock band Coldplay may have been worried about their X-Factor appearance, but it seems that following their performance on the talent show, sale of their latest album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ have gone through the roof.
The record debuted at #1 when it hit shelves on October 24th, selling 208,343 copies in its first week. Naturally, sales began to dwindle as the weeks went on – until the band got together and performed on widely-watched television programme the X-Factor – prompting a surge in sales, resulting in the band shifting another 86,808 copies in the past week – or an increase of 132%.
And not only is album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ seeing an increase in sales, but single ‘Paradise’ is too, moving from #7 in the singles chart to #2 after managing to double its sales. It is apparently the second highest peaking Coldplay single ever, just behind 2008’s massive ‘Viva La Vida’.
Interestingly, the single above ‘Paradise’ is X-Factor winners Little Mix’s cover of Damien Rice’s ‘Cannonball’, which has sold almost 90,000 copies – which may seem a lot, but is around 350,000 less than Matt Cardle managed to sell with his cover of Biffy Clyro’s ‘When We Collide’.
