Cowell Admits Defeat In Race For Christmas #1

The fall of the X-Factor may very well be underway – as multi-million pound music mogul Simon Cowell has admitted defeat in the battle for Christmas #1 this year, describing the Military Wives Choir as a ‘worthy’ winner in the race for the festive top-spot.

The media big-wig has seen a less-than-great year for the talent contest, with the usually-popular live finals receiving four million less views than previous years, and the winner’s single selling the lowest number of copies since 2004. Now, it’s set to lose one of its biggest annual mainstays – the Christmas #1 – to the Military Wives Choir, and Cowell has already admitted defeat.

Cowell wrote through his official official Twiter page “Congrats to Little Mix & congrats to Military Wives. It's a great cause & a worthy Christmas No. 1.”

Also acknowledging the success of the Military Wives are the Facebook campaigners who are hoping to get Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ to the Christmas #1, saying “The Military Wives single has got a very big amount of pre-orders. In complete honesty, I think that's the one to keep an eye out for, more than the actual X Factor.”
