Kiss Completes New Album and Name It

Kiss Frontman, Paul Stanley has revealed that the name of the band’s much anticipated 20th album will be titled ‘Monster’.

Openly admitting in the new February issue of Classic Rock magazine, he states, "I wasn't interested in making an album unless I was in charge and no one agreed to it half-heartedly. We cut the tracks all facing each other in the same room. Chemistry and camaraderie, that's essential. That's what made Sonic Boom so great."

Lending his own thoughts on six tracks from what he claims will be “thunderously better” than all the rest, he raves of Eric Singer’s drumming on the number ‘It’s A Long Way Down,’ calling it a “defining track in the sense that it’s very up-tempo.” He goes on to say that Gene Simmons sings ‘Back To The Stone Age’ and that he comes from “a school where you write a verse, a bridge, a chorus, and then you go back. That’s in my blood. It’s in Motown, it’s in The Beatles, it’s in Led Zeppelin, it’s in The Who, it’s in all my favourite bands.”

Describing ‘Shout Mercy’ as "a great track,” the hard-rock legend admits, “there's a lot of tracks that could start the album, and this is one of them. Whether it's a Love Gun or a Detroit Rock City, it's important to start with a song that defines what you're gonna be getting."

He then goes on to describe ‘Wall Of Sound’ as “absolutely, immediately recognisable and identifiable and true to being KISS,” and expresses excitement regarding Tommy Thayler’s “phenomenal” guitar playing on ‘Out Of This World.’

Another up-tempo song is ‘Hell Or Hallelujah,’ which Stanley calls ‘definitive’. In fact, he’s convinced that every song on the record is “quintessential, as no one does it better and many have tried.”
Although a release date is yet to be set for the unleashing of ‘Monster,’ Stanley says the band has “cut 14 tracks” and what they actually release or how it will all play out is yet to be seen, but insists there is “no filler” and Kiss have “aimed at the bull’s eye” with ‘Monster’ and “hit it full on.”
