Nanci Griffith Announces 20th Album ‘Intersection’ + UK Tour Dates

Wednesday, 18 January 2012 Written by Rob Sleigh

Grammy Award-winning folk/country artist Nanci Griffith has announced the release of her 20th album ‘Intersection’, which is due out on 20th February. The album will be followed by a UK tour including a date at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire – see below for more dates. ‘Intersection’ is Griffith’s first album since 2009’s ‘The Loving Kind’.

Speaking about her new album, Griffith said: “It’s emotional for me, and it’s personal, and it makes my heart pound, thinking I’m going to be totally exposed here. So many people are at an intersection in their life, with the way the economy is, with foreclosures and downsizing... For me, ‘Intersection’ is my musical crossroads.”

Nanci Griffith released her debut album ‘There’s A Light Beyond These Woods’ in 1978. In 1994, she won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album for her album ‘Other Voices, Other Rooms’, a collection of songs originally written by other artists such as Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie. Dylan even made an appearance on the album playing the harmonica. Nanci Griffith has previously collaborated with the likes of Don McLean, Willie Nelson and Counting Crows’ Adam Duritz.

New song ‘Hell No (I’m Not Alright)’ is available to listen to below.
