More Isle Of Wight Acts Announced

The organisers of award-winning Isle of Wight Festival have revealed more of the acts lined-up for the event in June.

The three-day rock and pop festival has seen the addition of urban stars Tinie Tempah and Jessie J, with the rapper and R&B singer both set to perform on the mainstage on Saturday (June 23rd). Also joining them at the festival will be dubstep trio Benga, Skream and Artwork, performing under their well-known moniker Magnetic Man. They’ll be headlining the Big Top stage on the Saturday.

The Big Top tent will also see American pop singer Kelis and Dutch jazz vocalist Caro Emerald on Friday 22nd, while three-piece girl band Stooshe will rock out the stage on the Saturday. The Garden Stage will also see the addition of a number of star performers, including indie-rock musician Miles Kane, LA duo The Real D’coy, rockers The Charlatans, American indie-rock trio Best Coast and BBC Sound of 2012 nominated Dry the River. The festival will be headlined by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

In other Isle of Wight Festival news, chief John Giddings has told of how he has avoided booking X-Factor for this year’s event. He told NME: “This year I've deliberately avoided pop acts, X Factor type people. I did a couple last year, but I felt a bit uncomfortable about that this year. I don't mind having R&B acts on the bill, I don't having Professor Green or Wretch 32, but I don't see them as straight pop acts. I think other festivals do straight pop acts and I was backstage at a couple of festivals and they seemed to be full of people I'd seen on TV.”
