The Black Crowes’ Rich Robinson Announces New Album + UK Tour Dates

Thursday, 26 January 2012 Written by Rob Sleigh

Rich Robinson, guitarist with The Black Crowes and the brother of vocalist Chris Robinson, has announced the release of his second solo album ‘Through A Crooked Sun’, which is due out on 26th March. The new album follows Robinson’s 2004 debut ‘Paper’, which was released during The Black Crowes’ first hiatus between 2002 and 2005.

Speaking about the events in his life that have inspired parts of ‘Through A Crooked Sun’, Robinson said: “I was living this life that was askew. My relationships with the people that were supposed to be my closest seemed damaged. My marriage was not a good fit for either of us and we weren’t facing up to that. Though I love my brother, the fact that my working environment can be challenging has been well chronicled. Nothing was working like it should have been, but by many people’s standards, it was a dream come true.”

Going on to talk about the album’s lead single ‘Hey Fear’, he added: “Fear can be a healthy, natural, protective response to your environment, but it can also be debilitating. In many ways, continuing the unhappy life that I was leading was a response to the fear of what lay beyond it. I wanted this song to be sparse to represent simplicity, and then add in the more frenetic production at the end to represent the onset of fear.”
