Welsh singing legend Sir Tom Jones has unveiled a cover version of Howlin Wolf’s ‘Evil’, which he recorded in collaboration with Jack White and two of the Raconteurs.
The new track is set to hit shelves on March 19th, but fans can listen to the track embedded below. ‘Evil’ features Sir Tom on vocal duties, and The Raconteurs’ Patrick Keeler and Carl Broemel in the backing band – with the track produced by superstar Jack White.
The Howlin Wolf track, which originally came out in 1954, was covered as part of Third Man Records (White’s own label) as part of their ’Blue Series’. The ‘Blue Series’ is a project by Jack White which has seen him invite any singers, bands and musicians to stop by at his studio in Nashville to record a track or two which White himself has produced. Other musicians who’ve made the trip include the unlikely Insane Clown Posse duo and Seasick Steve, as well as many others.
An updated version of Sir Tom’s 2002 track ‘Jezebel’, which he wrote and composed himself, will feature as the B-side of the track, which will get a 7” release. Check the track out below.
